Hands-On, Feet-Wet Education with MDC

Marine Discovery Center Executive Director Chad Truxall will be the speaker in December’s Discovery Lecture Series. Truxall will discuss “20 Years of Hands-On, Feet-Wet Education, Conservation and Exploration” on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m., in MDC’s Learning Lab.

As Truxall celebrates 20 years at MDC, he says his “enthusiasm, passion and dedication to protecting and restoring our coastal ecosystems is stronger than when I first began volunteering in the early 2000s.”

A former science teacher at New Smyrna Beach High School, Truxall added of his role at the nonprofit nature center: “The Indian River Lagoon and the diversity of plants and animals within its shallow waters continue to inspire and enrich our coastal community. We have accomplished much, but we have so much more to do. Please join me as we share the stories of past and present staff, volunteers, boards of directors and a community focused on healthy coastal ecosystems, for all, forever.”

MDC’s Discovery Lecture Series occurs on the first Thursday of each month unless otherwise indicated. The lectures are open to the public at no charge, but donations to the center are always appreciated. Pre-registration is required and may be done online or by phone at 386.428.4828.
