Halifax River Audubon President Joan Tague will be the guest speaker in February for our Discovery Lecture Series. She will present “The Wonder of Bird Migration,” on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m. in MDC’s Learning Lab.
The Pennsylvania native became an avid birder in 1987, while working as a volunteer at the Pittsburgh Aviary. She now guides many birding trips for Halifax River Audubon, the Ormond Beach Environmental Discovery Center, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Marine Discovery Center and for numerous other organizations, events and festivals.
A retired marketing design engineer for Bell Atlantic/Verizon, Tague has stayed active in the state’s Florida Master Naturalist Program and has shared her expertise in special avian programs at the Museum of Arts and Science in Daytona Beach.
MDC’s Discovery Lecture Series occurs on the first Thursday of each month unless otherwise indicated. The lectures are open to the public at no charge, but donations to the center are always appreciated. Pre-registration is required and may be done online or by phone at 386.428.4828.
