Dolphin Society:  The Roots of Our Foundation

At the heart of every thriving coastal ecosystem lies a quiet strength — the mangrove. Deeply rooted, resilient, and life-changing, mangroves form the essential foundation for the health of our coastal waters, just as our Dolphin Society forms the vital foundation for Marine Discovery Center.

Founded in 2008, the Dolphin Society was created from a shared vision of passionate individuals who recognized the importance of protecting and preserving the Indian River Lagoon for generations. From the beginning, these founding members became the “roots” of our foundation, anchoring our organization with their generosity, vision, and belief in the power of environmental education and conservation.

Membership in the Dolphin Society begins with a commitment — a gift of $5,000 or more, pledged at once or over time — but it extends far beyond a financial contribution. Dolphin Society members remain a lasting part of our community even after their pledge is fulfilled, as they continue to nurture and sustain our work, like the steady prop roots of the red mangrove that protect our shorelines.

On the front of Marine Discovery Center’s building is the Dolphin Society sign, marked with the symbol of a red mangrove, which reminds us daily that this community of donors is not only vital to our history but also to our future. With their support, we have grown stronger, reached farther, and engaged thousands to care for the Indian River Lagoon.

Together, Dolphin Society members are the quiet force beneath the surface — a legacy of care and commitment that grounds our past and shapes our path forward.

The Dolphin Society celebrates donors who contribute $5,000 or more to the Marine Discovery Center. By joining this prestigious circle, you play a vital role in restoring the Indian River Lagoon and inspiring future generations through impactful programs and engaging conservation efforts.
