Adopt-A-Garden

Adopt-A-Garden

Marine Discovery Center’s campus has 18 acres of natural landscape, including groomed trails and many gardens. Adopt-A-Garden participants commit to maintaining their chosen garden throughout the year by keeping the weeds at bay, mulching, and trimming as needed.

Our property has 28 recognized garden spaces to choose from, and these spaces are manageable for individuals but are also suitable for partners or small groups. Tools and materials will be provided by MDC. Participants will be recognized with a painted garden rock in their adopted garden. Terms are one year with the option to extend if desired.

By volunteering to Adopt-A-Garden, you will enhance the beauty of our public spaces, promote environmental sustainability, foster a sense of community pride, and provide habitat for pollinators & other wildlife.

How to Get Involved!

The Adopt-a-Garden Program empowers community members to take ownership of a native plant garden space.
Have a look at our Adopt-A-Garden Handbook to learn more about this program and view a site map of our gardens.

To participate in Adopt-A-Garden, you must first become an MDC Volunteer

Please contact Wendy Castino at [email protected] to discuss which garden spaces are available and to guide you in the process of Adopting a Garden at Marine Discovery Center, including providing access to our Civic Champs volunteer app group.
